Kishanghor Agro is an agro processing enterprise that specializes in the processing of various fruits & high valued crops like cashews & coffee. The company is dedicated to enhancing the value chain through developing entrepreneurs in Chittagong Hill tracts sharing knowledge of food processing for a better economic contribution from local sources .Through these endeavors, Kishanghor Agro aims to support local farmers, promote economic development and empower local people to sustainable agricultural growth.
Kishanghor Agro, established in March 2019 in Bandarban, is a pioneering agro-based enterprise dedicated to strengthening the cashew nut value chain in Bangladesh. The company was founded to create sustainable income opportunities for small-scale farmers, promote climate-smart production technologies, and build an inclusive business model that directly links farmers to processing, markets, and consumers.
Starting with just 10 farmers in 2019, Kishanghor Agro has expanded to a network of 287 farmers across 11 clusters in Bandarban and is on track to reach 1,000 contract farmers, including 50% women and 10% youth. By facilitating training in improved orchard management, intercropping, pruning, biological pest control, rainwater harvesting, and post-harvest handling, the company has enabled farmers to increase productivity and resilience to climate change, while ensuring consistent raw material supply.
On the business front, Kishanghor Agro currently processes 165 tons of raw cashew nuts annually into 33 tons of premium-quality products marketed through both online and offline channels under its Munlai brand. The company collaborates with the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) for processing innovations and going set up community-based collection points equipped with solar dryers and modern tools to reduce post-harvest losses (which is now more than 80%) and improve quality. With an average monthly turnover of BDT 1.5 million, Kishanghor Agro has established itself as a trusted brand in a rapidly growing domestic market where demand for cashews is rising by 15-20% annually.
Looking ahead, the company is scaling up through establishing community based collection systems with semi-processing facilities to reduce post-harvest loss by farmers, modernization of processing facilities with automated grading and packaging machines, integration of renewable solar energy, and adoption of digital supply chain management tools. Kishanghor Agro also actively participates in national and international trade fairs, branding campaigns, and market expansion initiatives to strengthen its competitiveness and reduce Bangladesh’s dependency on imported cashews.
By combining inclusive farmer engagement, climate-smart technology adoption, and a strong business growth strategy, Kishanghor Agro is contributing to rural job creation, women and youth empowerment, and improved food security, while positioning itself as a leading domestic and export-oriented cashew nut brand from Bangladesh.
